Welcome to the ‘08 Sumer Quarter and my new SCCC website! This summer I will be teaching WEB210 – Advanced Web Design.
This new website of mine is built on WordPress where I will be continuouisly posting new announcements, resources, jobs, internships, etc. Those of you that are subscribed to this site will automatically receive emails when I publish new posts. In my opinion, this is the MOST valuable class of the entire year. Learning how to work with developers, speak their language, knowing what things they need and for them to understand “design speak” is huge. In the first 3 months of my job, this has been the biggest stumbling block. Now that I am interviewing new candidates for contract positions, I am focusing a portion of the interview on whether I think this new person can communicate with the designers or developers depending on the role we are trying to fill. I’m finding that a vast amount can not.
On another note, I’d say that 90% of the classes taken at SCCC are completely applicable to my job. Just wanted to say thanks for preparing me for the real world!
