Position: Social Media Intern (Paid)

Make your mark! This year our interns will be a part of a huge push for expansion and implementation of new programs and departments at the CD Forum. The CD Forum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that presents and produces African-American cultural programs that encourage thought and debate for the greater Seattle area. While drawing attention to what makes African-American culture unique, we also seek to highlight its integral place within American culture as a whole.
Our internships offer experience in the non-profit sector and allow interns to be a vital member of a small, high-intensity organization that strives for excellence. We are seeking someone who is confident has a strong desire to be part of a hard-working team.
The Internship lasts from February 2010 to June 2010. A commitment for the entire season is strongly desired. The weekly time commitment expected is 8-10 hours per week.
The Social Media Intern’s duties will include the following activities:
- Be a part of launching and implementing our Online Social Media Strategy
- Monitor on-line activity related to CD Forum
- Maintain & monitor CD Forum social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, RSS, YouTube, relevant blogs and listserves, etc.)
- Catalog, create and summarize CD Forum website content, wikis and blogs
- Update CD Forum website content via CMS
- Assist with Online/Web staff projects as needed
- Provide support for PR/Marketing initiatives as needed
- Attend program and marketing meetings as needed
The ideal candidate will have:
- Individual must be social media savvy and experienced.
- MUST be an active participant in the Social Media Sphere
- Must be able to apply and learn best practices to effectively use social media in the non-profit/arts world
- Strong writing and analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of software and programs for online media (CMS, Adobe, etc.)
- Must be self motivated and self disciplined to work from home
- Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize
Preferred Skills: We are looking for someone who is passionate about and knowledgeable of social media. They will be able to coordinate the CD Forum’s online marketing and communications campaign to insure CDF’s presence on-line.
Other: The Social Media Intern will report to the Program Director and/or Program & Marketing Coordinator.
Honorarium: Yes – Stipend
