This year is the Third Annual Blues for Food Fest, to be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Magnuson Park. Proceeds from this event go to the P-Patch Trust (http://ppatchtrust.org/), a non-profit organization that works to prevent hunger by promoting community gardening in Seattle and by supporting programs that distribute food to those in need and help people grow their own food. Seattle P-patches give back to their communities through their food bank gardens, donating tons of fresh organic produce to local area food banks, meals on wheels programs, women’s and children’s shelters and transitional housing programs. Our goal is to have an organic and entertaining blues alternative to Labor Days overpriced or hard-to-get-to events, one that serves to preserve the blues and entertain families and their loved ones. We also strive to raise awareness of community gardens and the foodbank gardens that voluntarily grow 40,000 pounds of fresh organic produce that is donated to local area food banks and other programs.
