The Workstation Technologies website redesign will adhere to the following requirements:

Branding:

  1. The Workstation Technologies website will adhere to the branding standards as set forth in the (fictional) Workstation Technologies branding guidelines document
  2. Photographs of products will be high quality and in proper perspective as to allow for proper inspection

Technical:

  1. The website will be written using valid XHTML & CSS while utilizing PHP & mySQL to generate pages
  2. The website will be able to be viewed on both Mac & PC computers
  3. Target browsers will be Firefox 2 & 3, Safari 2 & 3, Internet Exploder 7 & 8. Internet Exploder versions prior to 7 will not be supported

Specific Features

The main purpose of the Workstation Technologies website will be to inform past/present/future customers of the Workstation Technologies product offerings available for purchase via the Workstation Technologies website.

As such the Workstation Technologies website will incorporate user features such as:

  3. Technical Support
  4. Mailing Address
  5. Phone Numbers

Customer Tools:

  1. Product Search
  2. Customer Login

Product Features:

  1. High Quality Product Photos with Slideshow including a 360º view of product
  2. Dimensions of product including but not limited to height, width, depth and weight
  3. Technical Specifications of product
  4. Product Manual download available in PDF format for all products
  5. Product Comparison feature where the user can see products side by side
  6. Customer Reviews
  7. Suggested Products

Customer Service Features:

  1. Help & FAQ
  2. Customer Service ticket application
  3. Shipping & Tracking Information application

The functional aspect of our scope is defined as our Functional Specifications documents – what our project site is actually going to “do” given our goals that we laid out during the strategy plane.

Describe your possible functional specifications in detail, as they will apply to your site including but not limited to:

  1. Site Features: specifications that will apply to the entire website such as branding requirements and compatibility issues.
  2. Specific Features: specifications that will apply to specific features and functions of your website such as buying a product or getting customer support.

Requirements:

  • This shall be written as a comprehensive report in paragraph and/or outline style that you, your team and Client can easily view and understand.
  • This shall be printed out and turned in as your Functional Specifications assignment according to the class schedule.
