The Mount Baker Community Club Seeks Developer
The Mount Baker Community Club (MBCC) seeks an experienced web site developer to drive the restructuring and refresh of their web site: http://mountbaker.org
This is an opportunity for an individual to broaden and deepen his or her web design and development proficiencies, while making an impact on the communications of neighbors and businesses in the Mount Baker neighborhood. This is a paid position scheduled to begin this year!!!
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Understands technical and functional design requirements.
- Designs, codes, and tests technical solutions that are of an exceptional standard.
- Utilizes own professional network to seek technical and UI guidance.
- Identifies web site deficiencies and recommends optimal solutions.
- Develops project plans and progress updates for communication with the board of directors.
- Prioritizes multiple tasks effectively.
- Writes clear and concise web content.
Communication and Leadership
- Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging.
- Communicates project updates to board of directors in a professional and consistent manner.
- Follows through with commitments and fosters mutual trust with fellow employees.
- Assumes additional responsibility without being asked.
- Makes innovative contributions and embraces new ideas.
- Demonstrates the ability to cooperate with a variety of people and achieve results.
- Personal connections with the Mt Baker neighborhood or southeast Seattle desired but not required.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrates proficiency in CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
- Reads and understands XML schemas and XSL stylesheets.
- Demonstrates proficiency in PHP.
- Proficient using graphic design tools to create web graphics.
- Understands relational database concepts.
- Creative design skills, including creation of web graphics, logos and other web site visual elements desired.
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite or similar desired.
Project Objectives
- Add functionality such that authorized volunteers can update the website calendar.
- Maintain content that is fresh, attractive and accurate, and ensure it functions properly.
- Other projects and enhancements that advance the MBCC mission.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Mount Baker neighborhood, located in southeast Seattle, is known for its rich physical and cultural diversity, as well as a particular vibrancy that has grown out of community involvement and cooperation. The cornerstone of the many activities supported by this involvement is the Mount Baker Community Club. The MBCC, organized in 1909, is believed to be the oldest continuously active community club in the United States. As a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization, MBCC relies on the active involvement of its members working together to provide a wide variety of amenities and services for the greater good of the community.
